Herpetofauna

Eastern_ribbon_snake_BGSMThe collection of herpetofauna comprises over 5000 specimens of reptiles and amphibians from around the globe, with Connecticut and the northeastern US particularly well represented.  In addition to local species, there are frogs from South Korea and the Middle East, lizards from Puerto Rico and South Africa, snakes from Paraguay and salamanders from the southeastern US – to list but a small sample. Specimen data are available on request. To further strengthen its scholarly and academic missions, the vertebrate collection committee adopted a strategic plan for 2022–2027.
